The Mitigation Process

The last section that was highlighted in the SERVPRO process was the inspection. Once the inspection is performed and the estimate is given the go-ahead, it now becomes time to perform the mitigation. The technicians on site will use the estimate as well as their professional knowledge to perform the job as efficient and accurate as possible. They will remove all affected materials, depending on the situation this consists of flooring (carpet, laminate, vinyl, tile), walls (drywall, plaster, wood paneling) and ceiling (drywall, plaster, ceiling tiles). Once all of the affected materials are removed and the work area has been cleaned and disinfected, it is them time to set the necessary drying equipment. We use air movers and dehumidifiers to dry out all affected areas. How much equipment SERVPRO uses depends on the size of the job and is determined by a program called DryBook. SERVPRO will return each day to monitor the equipment and the materials to ensure they are drying properly. The drying process usually takes three days but can vary from job to job.
